Surgery is complete

So Dylan had her closure surgery on Monday! This was very exciting. We got the call from the Surgeons on Sunday night right after we left the hospital. They asked for our consent to preform the surgery, and of course we gave a huge "UMMM YAAA!!!!!". So Monday morning we all got dressed (Casey and I have moved into the Ronald McDonald House) and left for the hospital. We got to the hospital and hung out with our little Pixie (that is what the nurses call her). She was a very unhappy camper this morning. The nurses had her hands pinned down becuase she plays with the cords too much. I am convinced that she knew that her intestines, which have been her play toys for the past 9 months, were now being taken away from her. She had this scowel on her face as I would talk to her and stroke her hand, she is never like this. Then she started to cry, but it isn't really a cry. She in intibated, so it is this silent cry, which I think might be worse than a real cry. I couldn't stand seeing her like this, so I ran out to the waitingroom to get Casey. When I came back into the room Dylan was pulling out her repogle(food drain) and ventilator out of her mouth when her right hand and pulling on her intestines with her left hand. The nurses saw this and gave her a bunch of drugs which calmed her down.
The doctors took her into surgery about an hour later. It took about 2 hours and all went well. They wheeled her back up to the ICN where we went and visited her. They had her in a medical comma. She has been coming in and out of it these past couple of days and all is going great. They will try and ween her off of the assisted breathing and repogle this week and hopefully by the end of the week we should be able to hold her. Thanks so much for all of your support and prayers.
Casey and Ashley
